It’s the Lovey Star Garden Pattern release day! I love how this pattern has a lot of background space to really help the design pop.

I had drawn this pattern out in the beginning of Summer, but with the kids being home and all the Summer activities, I didn’t get a chance to actually make the quilt until the kids when back to school.

I was scrolling through Stash Fabrics Sale section (not sponsored, just love their deals) and found the gorgeous Freshly Picked fabric and I had to have it. I had been wanting to use this fabric collection for a long time, and now I finally had the perfect pattern for it. They didn’t have the whole line, so I grabed a couple prints from (not sponsored)

I used 1/4 yard cuts from my quilt, but you can also used Fat Quarters are scraps that are large enough!

If I have to piece the backing on a quilt, I will usually go for a solid fabric or a sheet. But this gorgeous fabric was calling to be on the back!

I went with quick and easy straight line quilting for this one. And I bound it in a beautiful blue fabric from the Freshly picked line.

I’m so excited to see everyone’s versions!!

Happy Scrappy Quilt

IMG_6859 (2)

I am a yardage girl! When I draw out a pattern I will imagine it in 4 to 5 main colors. But lately I’ve been seeing so many beautiful scrappy quilts using Fat Quarter bundles. So my goal was to make a pattern that is Fat Quarter friendly. But to have enough blank space, so the quilt doesn’t look too busy. This is where the Happy Scrappy Quilt was born.

Dig through your fat quarters or scrap bins and pick a complementary solid and you are ready to go!

Download the Pattern here: Happy Scrappy Quilt Pattern

This is a 16 inch block quilt and includes directions for a Baby, Throw, Double, Queen and King size quilts. This pattern is great for the adventurous beginner to intermediate quilter.

I used 9 fat quarters from the Garden Girl line by Riley Blake Designs with Kona Cotton in Iced Frappe for the background fabric. I was able to cut all my pieces out and then cut my binding strips from the left overs of each fat quarter to make some scrappy binding!
